COMPANY PROGRAMME The "after-school" company program is very popular for many students and is delivered outside of normal school hours. This consists of the students forming a student-run corporation, where a board of directors is elected and the company creates a business plan. Supervision of the company is given under the direction of a volunteer businessperson. After fifteen weeks, the company completes a full business cycle – from formation to liquidation. The profit made (if any) is divided among the existing students.
This after-school program is intended to give young people the skills they needed to succeed in a business environment once they have entered the workforce. New additions to the after-school endeavors are: · The Hewlette Packard Global Business Challenge (HPGBC) - The HPGBC is an internet based competition between teams from all over the world, making strategic decisions as it relates to their virtual company's operations. · Job Shadow workplace internships - The job shadow effort is to enable students to get "hands on experience" in viewing and functioning in the working environment of a business.
